How Recycled Bottles Can Be Reused Dr. Travis Stork: Did you know 2.5 million plastic water bottles are thrown out in America every hour. Dr. Lisa Masterson: Wow! Dr. Andrew Ordon: Wow! That’s a lot of plastic bottle. Dr. Travis Stork: That is such a huge amount of waste that I don’t think we cover any because as an individual you throw out one or two. Dr. Travis Stork: Well, when you are add in there 300 million people living in this country. That’s a lot of water bottles and I want to tell everyone, there are a lot of things you can actually do with the recycled water bottles and these things are just some of them. I mean you’ve got, this is a bizarre suit. It was worn to the Grammy’s. You’ve got—Motorola has got recycled cell phones, sweaters, umbrellas. This is Poly-Wood furniture, dog house. Dr. Lisa Masterson: It looks cool, I mean -- Dr. Andrew Ordon: Well done Dr. Lisa Masterson: Wood. Dr. Andrew Ordon: Poly-Wood. Dr. Lisa Masterson: Yes, Poly-Wood. Dr. Travis Stork: The good news is we’re doing a better job of recycling some of this plastic but that actually also requires a lot of energy to recycle it. Dr. James Sears: Yes and there’s another concern with those plastic water bottles that you know they’re really that good for you. There are chemicals in there that are going to leak into that bladder and so I love what you’ve been doing. You just basically filter your water and put it into a reusable water bottle and carry it with you and that’s just the great thing to do. You know something like this Beretta filter, you just pour it into the -- Dr. Andrew Ordon: Could I have a drink— Dr. James Sears: Sure you bet buddy. I’m going to pour you but you know, it’s interesting, inside here there is this little black crystal. It’s actually toasted coconut husk Dr. Lisa Masterson: Oh my god! Dr. James Sears: It’s all green. It’s all good for you. Dr. Andrew Ordon: I have one of those at home.
