Healthy Eats from Rocco DiSpirito Audra Lowe: He was named People Magazine’s Sexiest Chef but Rocco DiSpirito isn’t counting on his looks at all. Lesley found out that he’s busy counting calories to make our favorite foods add up to a whole lot less. Take a look. Female: Please welcome Rocco DiSpirito. Rocco DiSpirito: So these events are one of the few of places that I can taught to the people who liked what I do and get their feedback. Lesley Nagy: As a celebrity chef, Rocco DiSpirito hasn’t limited himself to appearing of just cooking shows. Rocco DiSpirito: They weren’t the reality shows I haven't done yet. Lesley Nagy: Oh, just one or two. I’d like to touch on Dancing with the Stars because everyone loves Dancing with the Stars, yeah, how was that experience for you? Rocco DiSpirito: Well, one of my other ambitions in life, aside from becoming a chef, was to wear pink ruffles on television. So I've got accomplished that and I with breakaway sleeves. Okay, I did that because my mom told me if I did it, she’d kill me. She loves that show. It’s her favorite. And she had to see me doing it, so she got her wish. Lesley Nagy: And when the biggest loser called, Rocco granted their wishes. You’re losing a lot of weight. Rocco DiSpirito: Yeah. Lesley Nagy: How are you going to help them? Rocco DiSpirito: So what they crave more than anything is healthy food that taste good. They’re pretty happy when we get there. The trainers are always so happy because they’d probably eat a little more on those days but they tell me what they love to eat and I tell them how to make it healthy and delicious. Lesley Nagy: Now, he’s telling everyone how in his new cookbook. Fried chicken, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, barbecued ribs, I mean, Chicken Parmesan and it's America's list of 150 favorite dishes. And the reason I know it’s America's 150’s favorite dishes because I asked them. I used Twitter and Facebook and social media to find out. It’s great dialogue when you get to ask people questions, they respond immediately. And so they kind of voted for the favorite dish list. The idea was just kind of sick and tired of all the diet with myself where doctors and trainers and nurses and registered dieticians are saying “You can’t, you can’t, you can’t” when I -- I knew we could. Lesley Nagy: So she lost 103 pounds and she’s your audience telling you that, so you’re a role model for people. Rocco DiSpirito: Well, anytime the work you do can talk to someone -- connect with some and change your life, it’s the greatest thing ever. Audra Lowe: Thanks Lesley, well next up Rocco says -- but he's coming out with a diet program to go along with his cookbook. He’s one of my favorite people. I really like him.
