Dr. Ann Kulze: The average healthy adult male should take three basic supplements. Number one, a multivitamin but not just any multivitamin. It’s very, very important to check it for the following things. Be sure it has no more than 400 micrograms of folic acid, at least 2milligrams of B6, at least 6 micrograms of B12, no more than 200 milligrams of calcium, no more than 4000 international units of vitamin A and no iron. So that’s the sort of the key features of the right multivitamin for men. The second supplement I recommend for the average healthy adult male is fish oil because the average American is willfully deficient in that very fact called the omega 3 fats and fish oil is just such a wonderful rich source of that is kind of one of those no bring or things to do it’s very safe to take fish oil. Which one should you take because your vigilant is on the shelf? My recommendation is fish oil or to take one high quality look for the word pharmaceutical grade ideally on the bottle. When you go for these higher quality brands of fish oil you’re going to get safety quality and potency. The dose I recommend is a combined. What do you mean by combined? If you look on that all official bottles will less milligrams of DHA, milligrams of EPA you add them up and you wanted to be around a gram of DHA plus EPA. I have certain brands that I do think it fit the bill that are readily available, more natural, omega bright, core omega. When you take your fish oil be sure to take it again with at meal time. The other thing is if you have to have a serving of oily fish like salmon or tuna or mackerel or sardines no need to worry about taking your fish oil that day because the mounts are going to get in that serving of oily fish is going to be the same amount that you’re take in the pills and it will save you a little bit of money. The third thing I recommend for males is additional vitamin D. Now, be careful there’s a vitamin D already in your multi so you’re going to see what your multi provides but I want you to have a total daily supplement dose of vitamin D3. You want the D3 form of about 1000 IUs and it’s pretty straightforward so you have your multi, you have your high quality fish oil, you have your vitamin D3 and this is Dr. Ann for ICYou until next time, enjoy health.
