[Music Playing] Ayurveda is the world’s oldest known health-care system. It is considered the “granddaddy” of healing traditions. Developed over centuries of use, it is a mind, body and spirit approach to healing. That attempts to keep people healthy and disease-free. Other systems of medicine treat only the disease, but ayurvedic system of medicine is a holistic approach to mankind. It treats the disease, but treats the patients mentally, as well as physically. According to Ayurveda, the three primary life forces in the body relate to three humors of air, fire and water. Some common diseases and ayurvedic cures: Indigestion? Use ginger, cumin, rock salt, coriander, asafoetida, and pepper. Constipation? Use plenty of citric fruits and raw vegetables. Liver disease? Use aloe gel, turmeric, barberry bhumiamalki (Phyllanthus niruri). Avoid oily, spicy and rich food. Asthma? Use cloves, cardamom, ashwagandha, katuka, pepper, ginger, and honey. Heart diseases? PMS? Aloe gel, shatavari, cinnamon, jatamansi, manjishta, and triphala. Menopause? Aloe gel, shatavari, brahmi, shankh pushpin, and jatamansi. Hair loss? Brahmi, bringraj, amalaki, sandalwood, bakuchi, and licorice. Insomnia? Brhami, jatamansi, and shankh pushpi. Headaches? Saraswat powder, jatamansi, calamus, camphorated oils. Ayurveda is an amazing herbal science of the ancient sages, although rediscovered, but yet to be mastered. In ayurveda, the beauty of the inner and outer self are given due importance.
