Aromatherapy makes use of essential oils sometimes in combination with other alterative medical practices and spiritual beliefs. Popular use of these products includes massaging products. The pleasant scent is relaxing. Aromatherapy has existed for 6000 years. The Egyptian physician Imhotep recommended fragrant oils for bathing, massage, and for embalming their dead. Imhotep is the Egyptian god of medicine and healing. Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, used aromatic fumigations to rid Athens of the The Plague. There is currently insufficient scientific proof of the effectiveness of aromatherapy, but some research shows antibacterial and antiviral effects. Either way, Aromatherapy smells very nice.
