Here are the DIY Basics on insulating a garage door brought to you by the GMC Yukon Hybrid. A simple project like Insulating a Garage Door can save a bundle in energy costs. Because for most people the garage is the largest uninsulated area of their home. There are a couple of ways you can go. One is reflective foil insulation using heavy duty polyethylene. The other is molded polystyrene panels which carry a higher R-value. Both come in kits which are easy to install with a tape measure, straight edge and a utility knife. There is also the home made approach. Cutting pieces of foamcore and attaching them with double-sided tape. A layer of double lip weather stripping will help you seal the gap between the door and the floor. Beside the savings, insulating your garage door reduces noise and provides a more comfortable working environment. This DIY Basic is brought to you by the GMC Yukon hybrid, Fuel by Innovation.
