Speaker: Are there certain foods that people should avoid, if they want to lose weight? Dr. William McCarthy: There are definite foods that people should avoid. First of all, foods that are extremely high in fat desert foods that have not only fat, but sugar. Soft drinks there are also foods such as better high in saturated fats are Trans fats not only do these cause weight gain, they actually can cause metabolic problems, especially with cholesterol an increased risk for cardiovascular disease. Also foods that are high in process starch as these foods are observed, and the starch turns in sugar very quickly, so foods that are high and what we called the white pasta, the white rice, and the white bread. In general, these foods should be at least reduced or eliminated if a person seriously wants to loss weight.
