Dr. Mark Savant: Hi I'm Dr. Mark Savant and welcome to Savant MD. Today's wellness tip is about the treatment of food poisoning. The fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps from food poisoning, which is usually caused by salmonella, should first be treated with lots of fluids. Drink at least three liters of clear liquids a day. Sometimes antibiotics are needed, especially if you've been travelling in a developing country. If however you can't keep any foods down or the symptoms have lasted for more than 24 hours, you should seek medical attention. I'm Dr. Mark Savant.
