Dr. Rochelson: I think Dr. Frugal mentioned this or alluded to it. It is really an opportunity to intervene in reducing the risk of birth defects by telling women and the child-bearing age or near the child-bearing age to take additional folic acid and that is the point of entry for a lot of patients into the system. By the time you are pregnant it is too late for folic acid to make a difference.
