Sarah Alligood: Hi! I'm Sarah Alligood. I'm a registered dietician at the international food information council foundation. Today, we're talking about how to eat right and feel great. Now, we're going to talk about how to eat carbohydrates. Host: What are the facts about carbs? Sarah Alligood: you may have heard of people trying to cut out carbs from their diet, maybe as an approach to loose weight, but this really isn't a good approach to improve your health. Carbohydrates are absolutely essential in the diet. First of, your brain uses them, you need them for proper brain function, so that you can think straight, you also need them to fill your muscles, carbohydrates are right give your muscles energy. There is a reason why athletes a lot of times will load on carbohydrates, before a big event and that's to feed their muscles and given enough energy. So, cutting carbs in your diet is certainly not going to help your health and it could even harm it.
