Regular physical activity is a vital component to living a long, healthy life. The National Institute on Aging recommends seniors to participate in four main types of exercise. They include strengthening exercises which build muscle tissue, stretching exercises to increase flexibility, balancing exercises and endurance exercises like walking, swimming or riding a bike. Start with as little as five minutes at a time and build up if you need to. As if any fitness regimen, you should consult your doctor first.
