Kimberley: Welcome to the ultimatepilatesworkouts.com, Pilates on Fifth video podcast. I am Kimberley. Katherine: And I am Katherine. Kimberley: Today’s exercise is banana split, which sounds like a nice ice cream treat but it’s really a nice exercise. We will start side-lying its combination of the banana, which uses lateral flexion and the scissors. Start lying on your side, you want your bottom arm outstretched with the palm down and your head is resting on the arm. Make sure that you have put your abs in and you are squeezing your boots and the legs are strongly aided out to an extended reaching far. Now, again I have to get this ball out of the way, hold on, as this was a problem before and I think there we go, okay. So, her going to inhale and reach the top leg forward and the bottom leg back, exhale as they switch and on the next one, we repeat we are going to add lot of flexion. So, inhale and exhale. So, we go inhale, exhale and in lateral flexion inhale and exhale. Now keep going Katherine, you can take the top arm to the hip to make it harder and inhale, exhale. The breath is sort of up for the babe because some people would rather exhale when they are coming up but also when you inhale coming up, you are opening up the ribs on one side. So, you should find what works best for you. Just remember that don’t come up too high, you don’t want to come too high and allow the hips to flex. Show what that looks like Katherine where you don’t want to roll back and end up flexing, that’s not right, it’s not targeting the obliques and end up being more hip flexor. Thank you and that is banana split.
