When can women engage in sexual intimacy after hip replacement surgery? Dr. Mary O'Connor: I tell my patients that if once they start feeling comfortable, I say a couple of weeks if they are feeling okay. And we go through, we actually have an article that reviews different sex positions in terms of what we would feel is safe and what we would think is a little more risky and so that can be very helpful for patients. And that’s another subject that people are a little uncomfortable talking about at times, but it’s such an important one because that’s an important part of life.
