Energy Boosting Plank and Relaxing Plank Yoga Poses Plank is a full body toner, it is basically the starting position for the pushup and it works the legs, glutes, abs, shoulders and arms. To get into it, you’re going to start on all fours, so if the shoulders are right over the wrist and then walk your feet back so that all your weight is on your hands and toes. Holding this is your basic plank position, but if you want a little more pep for your afternoon, just bring the toes of one foot off the ground slightly. Pull for a couple of breathes and then our place down. Repeat to the other side. Make sure that you are using your abs to keep you stabilized. Or if you are looking to turn it down a little bit make a pose a little bit more relaxing you can, just hold plank until you start to get tired and then lift your hips slightly, you aren’t going to go back to a full down dog, it will just get you a place where there is a little less pressure and you allow yourself to recover. Then, once you can breathe easy again roll back out to a plank position, and repeat. Which ever plank you decide to do workout to holding it for 60 seconds.
