Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak: Hi! I'm Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, a registered dietician with the international food information council. Today, we're talking about how to help your diet survive the office. The next topic is how to eat during formal business meetings and social occasions. Host: How do I eat differently from my colleagues at a formal business dinner? Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak: At a formal business dinner many of us might be looking to close a deal. We want to talk more about business, and then we want to talk about what's for dinner. In that case, you may not really be want to draw too much attention to yourself in this idea that you started on this new journey and that's the called healthy eating plan and want you like to hear about it. Instead you want to focus on what you want to talk about, which is the business at hand. There are a couple of strategies that we can put in placed that actually keep us from eating too much at a formal business dinner. A couple of things to keep in mind, setting down your fork and knife between bites takes a lot of time, it helps you to slow down. Also, taking a drink between bites can work as well and making sure that you're chewing your food. You may be so intend on listening to what the other person is saying and you might just be eating and eating so quickly, you're not even giving yourself enough time to feel for. By prolonging some of your eating whether by chewing longer, setting down your fork and knife and or taking a drink between bites can actually help you know when you're fuller, sooner, before you over ate or eat too much.
