Hi everybody! I am Melanie Raposo, and welcome to Mommy's Minute. Eating disorders affect a growing number of women each year. If you suffer from an eating disorder and are trying to get pregnant, it can be extremely difficult. Eating disorders seriously affect your hormonal system. Before you become pregnant, it's important to make sure you get your weight under control. There are many risks to your baby if you get pregnant while still battling an eating disorder, such as miscarriage and low birth weight. If you have an eating disorder during pregnancy, you have an increased chance of labor complications, C-sections, and postpartum depression. It is strongly recommended that if you have an eating disorder to get treatment before you get pregnant.
