Dr. Wollman Talks About the John Wayne Cancer Institute John Wayne Cancer Institute came to Saint John’s Hospital, I want to say it was around 1990, and in that time the Wayne family, under the leadership of Dr. Donald Morton and now Dr. Armando Juliano has brought world famous clinicians, that’s doctors that take care of patients, and scientists together in a relatively small area so that they can collaborate very, very effectively, very quickly bringing new ideas and new treatments directly from the laboratory to the bedside and Saint John’s and John Wayne have been beautiful partners in doing that for many, many years now and the successes, in terms of research and in terms of patient care outcomes, have been spectacular. I couldn’t think of a better place to practice medicine. The John Wayne Cancer Institute and Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California have a very, very, very large number of patients who are treated for breast cancer; it’s main thing we do here. So we have more expertise and see more patients than virtually any other place in Los Angeles County. As such, we have fantastic physicians, from surgeons to medical oncologists, to radiation oncologists, who treat and have more experience treating patients with breast cancer than you are likely to find in any other part of Los Angeles County. People travel from all over the country, and indeed the world, to come to the John Wayne Cancer Institute at Saint John’s Health Center for care of their breast cancer. We are internationally well known and I think patients who do that have made a wise choice. You couldn’t find more dedicated caring team of experts for treating breast cancer probably anywhere in the world.
