Dr. Song's Favorite Breast Cancer Patient Story I certainly find all the patient experiences that we are involved with, or that I am involved with, to be very satisfying. Not just the ones that we, quote, cure, but also the ones where we can greatly improve their quality of life, extend quality of life and it just extends life in general, whether it be a female with a very early stage breast cancer, which is very highly curable where we have excellent success rates and provide a very good long-term outcome with very little if any side effects, to the lady that has an advance breast cancer which is considered to be incurable who we are able to really improve their quality of life through the existing technology. I think both are equally satisfying in their own way. Well, I have a lady that I recently treated who had advanced breast cancer. She was young, in her thirties, and the cancer had already spread to the lymph nodes in the center part of her chest, to the internal mammary lymph nodes. It was a left-sided breast tumor and in the past in order for us to treat the internal mammary nodes would have meant extensive amount of damage to her heart and lungs. This patient had gotten a considerable amount of chemotherapy, and it was only because of the new technological advances which allowed us to custom shape the beams, to focus the radiation, to treat those internal mammary lymph nodes were we are able to do that in a way where the patient had no side effects whatsoever; was able to maintain a very active life. And the last scans have shown that the treatment has worked and we have been able to successfully eradicate the disease in those internal mammary lymph nodes as well as in the breast area.
