Interestingly, I have a lot of success stories because, just like I said, I have been performing this procedure for 25 years. I have performed on about 5,000 patients, but one person comes to mind who is a 16-year-old young man that I performed surgery on several years ago. The surgery was necessary because he had a very serious lung illness, and since I mentioned he was a teenager this has to be done because he has to lose weight in order for the medical ailment to be alleviated. He weighed around 400 pounds, and just like I mentioned, 16-year-old, 400 pounds in the high school; he wasn’t the favorite person around. Everybody teased him, they laughed at him, all the girls would run away from him. They gave him nicknames, and lo and behold, he underwent gastric bypass procedure and a year later, he has lost over 200 pounds, and he was the main show on campus. It is a very remarkable turnaround for a young man, and he still comes by the office; he’s still very, very grateful of what we have done for him, and he is a happy camper. Well, having a successful story like that makes me a part of the story, and what does that exactly mean? I am almost as excited for that patient as that patient himself or herself. Sometimes I get into their personal lives in terms of, I get introduced to their spouses and their children, and I get involved and it makes me feel like being a part of the family, and because of that, I have had several families and that is a very special feeling.
