My name is Owen Thompson. I'm a physician, a family practitioner. I went to college at the University of North Dakota and Medical School at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. Initially, I started off to be an orthopedic surgeon, but decided that wasn't my calling. and I became a family physician. I've worked full time as a family physician for many years. And for a few years also worked as an emergency physician. I've been involved as a Medical Director for an Ambulance Service. I've also taught classes in a variety of capacities, both for emergency medical technicians, paramedics. and a wide variety of other paraprofessionals in medicine. I have a passion for cardiovascular disease. I've had 3 heart attacks. I come from a family loaded with heart disease. and I am a CPR survivor. I'm also a cardiogenic shock survivor who received this fantastic emergency care from America's EMS system and was given literally lifesaving clot buster drugs in an emergency room on another occasion. So, I am very big advocate for emergency healthcare and try to do whatever I can to help people improve the EMS system, and help encourage Americans to utilize the EMS system when they have crisis in their life.
