Hi, I'm Janet Kennedy. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist and sleep specialist in New York City. My practice is called NYC Sleep Doctor and my website is nycsleepdoctor.com. I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology at NYU and went to work at a VA hospital for almost ten years. While I was there, I developed the sleep disorders treatment program at the Manhattan and Brooklyn VA hospitals, to treat sleep disorders in the veteran population. I started doing a lot of research about infant sleep because I was starting my own family and I was terrified about sleep deprivation for myself. What I found is that most people don't know a lot about getting a good night's sleep and they often, unknowingly, do things throughout the day that can compromise it. So I launched NYC Sleep Doctor to work with individuals and families, helping them break the patterns of bad sleep and get back on track. I work with families to create individualized treatment plans to meet their needs and get their children the sleep that they need. And with adults, I provide cognitive behavioral therapy to treat insomnia and other sleep disorders, so that people can restore their sleep patterns and start to sleep again without medication. You can find out more about me and my work on my website, nycsleepdoctor.com.
