Raena Morgan: We're visiting with Dr. Holly Showalter. She's a senior scientist in the Research and Development at Kemin Health in Des Moines, Iowa. Could you tell us a little bit about your background Dr. Showalter? Dr. Holly Showalter: Yes, thank you for having me. My background includes a Bachelor of Science and Chemistry with a minor in biology from Bowling Green State University. After Bowling Green I went on to graduate work and obtained my Ph.D at Perdue University, Natural Products Chemistry. And, when I was at Perdue my dissertation included work on isolating and quantifying anti-cancer compounds from plants. And, since my doctorate, I've been in the dietary supplement industry for about 9 1/2 years, and the last 6 1/2 years I've been with Kemin Health in the Rresearch and Development group. And, the R&D group, I've worked on Lutein with my team in the early days. And, most recently we're working on other new molecules for health care purposes for Kemin Health. Raena Morgan: And, Dr. Showalter what was your role in the development of FloraGlo Lutein? Dr. Holly Showalter: My role was to develop better delivery systems, making sure the product is stable so that when customers would formulate with the product, that we could guarantee a shelf life for the product, to make sure the product doesn't degrade, to make sure that the delivery system is appropriate for tableting and things of that nature. Raena Morgan: Okay, well thank you Dr. Showalter, we'll visit again.
