Adenocarcinoma is another of the subgroups of non-small cell lung cancer and it’s one of the kinds of lung cancer that has seemingly increased in recent years and is particularly more common in women and it’s possible to treat that effectively with surgery if can be recognized at an early stage. It’s not really known why that type is more frequent in women but we recognize that there are some genetic factors that come into play. The curious thing is why all smokers don’t develop lung cancer but in fact they do not and there are contributing factors from our genetic makeup, the different environmental exposures, perhaps the different hormonal effects that women have, compared to men, during their lifetimes but that’s not well understood at this point.
