So, I’ve been chatting with this guy from about a month and a half and he seems like a really nice and sweet guy. But we have so many differences. We are of different religions, he’s athletic and I’m not. He doesn’t drink and I do. We live in different places and so on. Can opposites really attract?” Opposites can attract in a very, very dynamic and exciting way. You can get an extrovert and an introvert. The people have different personality types that really, really match. The one likes to talk and one likes to listen. In your case however there are some real problems that don’t necessarily have to do with being opposites. These are problems in basic values that could really post a problem for coming together in a lasting love relationship. For example, being of different religions, this could be a deal breaker in terms of really coming together. Another big problem is living—if you live far part from each other, sometimes geographically is just very, very hard to get it together and have an ongoing lasting love relationship. So, the answer is yes, opposites to a certain degree do attract especially when it comes to personality types. But if you have significant differences in your values and in your location you want to basically get out of a situation fast before you waste a lot of time being with someone who’s not going to work out if lasting love is your goal.
