Veronica: Osteyoga yoga has nothing to do with complicated postures nor is it just for the flexible and athletic person. Hi, I'm Veronica of watchmojo.com and today we are taking a look at the type of yoga that focuses on the inner healing. So, how would you describe Osteyoga yoga for someone who has no idea what it is? Patrick: I’ve been doing yoga for about 10 years, so at some point as you start practicing, you realize that you’re spending a lot of time doing a lot of things and you kind of wonder just to remove the noise, whatever is useless, you just want the most precise specific powerful technology possible. The whole idea with Osteyoga was how do you get to use postures and meditation in a yoga practice as efficiently as possible and removing all the nonsense that actually hurt you and kind of bring you on tensions all the time. Veronica: What is the fundamental principle for this type of yoga? Patrick: Loose and relax. This is the fundamental principle, being loose and relax. It’s not the yin, it’s not the yang, it’s not energy in action or relaxation, it’s just neutral. So the people who come here learn how to be just present. Veronica: Now, this is a class that moves pretty slowly, how are you getting worked out? Patrick: Work out no, you won’t work out, you are going to be cram. Everything your body needs, you get but if your attitude is a work out, you’re not at the right place. This is healing because everybody was doing work out because they want to look pretty so let’s push out the useless and just focalized on what’s important and powerful. So, if you're interested in having nice skin, strong bones, strengthen your body vitality releasing the heart, releasing the lungs, releasing the diaphragm, making the whole body functional and so many people come from yoga and they’re like, “I injured myself doing yoga.” I’m like, “What are you talking about? How you do that? How do you injure yourself when you are supposed to heal yourself?” It’s because they’re pushing. They’re using this as an exercise to take it to the next level physically. But the physical is so much more than just that. Veronica: Now, you have been able to use the inner healing to help heal yourself. Is this something that anyone can do or it takes time? Patrick: It’s a process. Like for me to say an inner heal would be very cocky and maybe I am but not that cocky. As you start getting acquainted with your body and feeling it and understanding it all the misconceptions that people have been educating us to society and to fear the body of viruses attacking me and sensational have cancer I'm going to die. The fears that are inside of us you start relax, it’s not that. And once you start to understanding the body you know how to trust it. The body does not make any mistakes so if your intent is on healing this is the way it goes. It happened to me last Monday, I was jammed, completely jammed and whatever I do is like I'm freaking out and I just managed to get myself here and I just in a very funky way took me like 10 minutes to lay down I just laid there. No moving, I can't move. And completely went into it. And as you start diving it, you see what the body is doing. It’s actually healing it. So many things are happening, it’s phenomenal. And I just laid there and I stayed there for three hours. After three hours, I could get up. Not perfect but I could get up in the sense that I feel trust. I trust my body so that so much fear’s gone. Veronica: Well, thank you very much. Patrick: It’s been my pleasure.
