Different Types of Allergy Testing Otto Liao: There are two main ways to be able to get allergy testing done. Female: I’m really scared for I’m having them. I pricked a bunch at times. Otto Liao: Certainly, there is a skin testing, what we call a scratch test. Female: Okay. Otto Liao: The peanut solution will be scratched onto the skin either the arm or on the back so it goes on the skin and it goes like that. And if you are allergic to it, it will start to get itchy and it will start to form a hive or welt. Nowadays, we also have blood testing available through just a single blood draw. The advantage of this would be that he’s not exposed again to the thing that he maybe allergic to and have a severe reaction. If we’re indeed able to solidify what it is that he is allergic to, after testing is done, you have all the tools available to deal with keeping you safe.
