Dan: Okay! This is form one of our YouTube viewers and it's about masturbation. Dear Dan and Jennifer, is masturbating on a daily basis going to harm, alter or prevent my progress through puberty? Thinking back to those days when I wondered the same thing. If so how drastic is it and how long must I've been masturbating for on a daily basis for it to have any effects? Anonymous! Jennifer: You know what this is a question that a lot of teenagers, teenage boys, teenage girls, everyone has. Dan: Because the grown ups are afraid to talk Sex Ed with their kids. It is really, really sad! Jennifer: Yeah! And masturbation has been so taboo for so long for various religious and sexual oppression, whatever! Dan: We call this baggage from the Victorian Age! And you won't believe this that the torture devices that people used to put on their children in the 1700s and the 1800s, it is insane. It was tempting to put those pictures up, but we decided not to because we don't need pictures of torture devices on the screen. We're more enlightened these days and we can talk Sex Ed. Jennifer: Yeah and the fact is, masturbation has nothing to do with your sexual health or personal development or growth. Dan: How about your luck and life? Jennifer: It's actually the opposite, okay? When you hit puberty and if you're a boy and the testosterone starts surging, you start getting the urge to masturbate. Dan: You know how those boy dogs want to hump everything in sight? You know teenage boys... Jennifer: Yes! Teenage boys are about the same! Dan: Been there! Yes! You know, yes! Jennifer: Teenage girls are much better! Dan: They pretend to be. Jennifer: They pretend to be because, oh my god, it's even more taboo for girls! Come on guys get over it! Dan: More baggage from a really disturbed age! Jennifer: Masturbation is perfectly normal and perfectly healthy! It's okay! Dan: And if you want, there are a lot fundamentalist's perspectives on it, that say that it's evil, it's bad and you'll be smitten. There is no real conclusive proof that anyone has seem to date, well that depends on who you ask, that masturbation causes any harm to health or reproductive function. Jennifer: It don't make you stupid! Dan: What? Jennifer: It doesn't make you stupid! Dan: What? Are you sure? Jennifer: Read this quote, I love this quote! Dan: If it did, do all these things to you, the vast majority of people in the world will be very short and unhealthy, that's true! Jennifer: It doesn't make you blind, it's not going to make you wear glasses. Dan: Okay! One question that we get a lot is... Jennifer: These are the silly things that your parent's parents told them, you know, like babies come from the stork, okay, come on guys! Dan: No really! This is the kind of Sex Ed we have today. It is really, really sad and it's the reason we have so many teenage pregnancies because we're not being grown ups about it. Grown ups are being silly about this and not take their responsibility as grown ups. Jennifer: And that's why we're here, to just be honest! Dan: Yeah! Jennifer: That's it! Dan: Just that simple! So during puberty, how much is too much? Jennifer: Yeah! How much is too much? Okay, fine! If you're masturbating 3 or 4 times a week, no big, okay? But if you're masturbating 3 or 4 times a day, it's not the masturbation that's the problem, it's the fact that it's kind of becoming kind of an obsession, addiction kind of thing and it's interfering with your regular life. Just like if you watch television for four hours a day, okay? There is something wrong with that also! Dan: Yeah! As a very driven slash somewhat obsessive person I've to be sure with, gee, how many times a week is okay? I don't know Bob, how many times do you want to do in a week? So, really, you know, how many hours a day to watch TV is too much? Jennifer: Yeah this doesn't apply to puberty, okay? This applies across the board, whether you're an adult, whether you're in puberty or whatever, I could just think mod
