Cupid's Lip Procedure Explained Dr. Travis Stork: Lauren is with us today but before we reveal her results Drew tell us about the cupid’s lip special procedure. Dr. Drew Ordon: Yeah. This is a little different. You’ve seen me do stuff on lips before. You’ve seen me used various fillers that we’ve used in the lips, hyaluronic acid. You’ve seen me used fat. You’ve seen me used radiesse. The downside is any filler that we put in the lip will go away in time. The other technique, you’ve seen us do it right here in the procedure room in the back. We put in permanent implants. Permanent lip but the downside with that is that you’re introducing something foreign to the body. So we came up with something a little different and this is great because it’s a one shot deal. It’s permanent. You don’t have to touch it up with fillers all the time. Actually it’s based on a procedure or technique we used for cleft lip, so for somebody who has a nasal deformity. So I’m using the tissue inside the lips, making those cuts you saw and pushing the tissue forward to give a fuller lip. And why we call it cupid’s lip because this part of the lip, this little bow it’s called cupids bow, and since we’re accentuating that part of the lip, the cupid’s lips. In the operating room you saw the lip flipped out and we made those little V incisions right? And what it’s called is a V to Y advancement and what you do is you cinch that and you advance the tissue up forward like so. I’ll do this for all of this. And I think you’ll get an idea and when I turn this back down. You see this little tissue it gets pushed forward that’s the V to Y advancement. And then, this one comes up and the idea is that when put this down like so that you’ve created more of this cupids bow and you’ve created more fullness. Dr. Travis Stork: Well I think we should take a look. Lauren is here but let’s take one last look at her lips before the procedure and let’s see cupid’s new lips on Lauren now. Dr. Lisa Masterson: Oh yeah. Dr. Jim Sears: Oh wow, yeah. There you go. Dr. Lisa Masterson: It’s great. Dr. Travis Stork: So Lauren, what do you think of your new lips? Lauren: I love it. I mean it’s exactly what I wanted. It looks so natural and for me it’s important that it’s permanent. I don’t have to go back and get injections. I just didn’t want to do that, so I love it. Kissing is more fun and I really like it. Dr. Lisa Masterson: That’s great. Dr. Drew Ordon: That’s a good feedback.
