There are a few different ways to address the hormone imbalances in polycystic ovarian syndrome. One of the easiest is give birth control pills and what birth control pills do, they don’t get at the underlying cause of it but they do get at the excess testosterone production and menstrual irregularity part of it. So by giving birth control pills you do reduce that excess testosterone. You give a woman regular menstrual periods, you prevent the stimulation of hair follicles to produce more hair so that the things are held in terms of hair growth and a stable situation. In terms of menstrual periods women have predictable periods which is more convenient for them.
