What daily precautions do you take to control your osteoporosis? Dealing with my osteoporosis is a daily battle and each day I have to take my calcium with the vitamin D supplements. I eat low fat yogurt twice a day at least sometimes three. I do some sort of exercise if I’m not going to the workout with my trainer. I do have some equipment at home that I can handle on my own by myself and four I have to be careful how I move not to go too fast, watch the ground if I’m wearing my glasses because they’re trifocals. Making sure my depth of perception is accurate because each day it’s a battle and that doesn’t mean that it goes well. There are days I fall and 911 is called, I have an alert button, I wear around my neck from my burglar alarm company and the fire department can't get into the house, they have a key. So I can do all of these things and they can try to be really careful. It’s no guarantee but I do work with it on a daily battle. And that’s important because I don’t want another broken bone. I don’t want to be in the wheelchair that I know is coming eventually in my life. They tell me one day, I will be on full disability. I knew it would happen I just didn’t know when and then when it happen it was like, “Oh, my god! It’s really real. It’s here. And now, I know”. Someday I will be in a wheelchair, I just don’t know when. And I’m doing everything I can to prevent that. I have grandchildren. I have a brand new grandbaby. I cannot even lift her. She has to be put in lap because she was born weighing eight pounds and three pounds is my limit so just something as simple as that.
