Speaker: What are the best sources of Omega 3 fatty acids? Jeannette Bessinger: Omega 3 fatty acids are a naturally occurring fat in particular foods. The best sources of Omega 3 fatty acids are cold water fish like salmon. If you prefer not to eat the fish, you can also get your fatty acids through fish oil, but because there are some toxins in the ocean you need to make sure that it is molecularly distilled for purity or certified free of mercury and PCBs. If you don't wish to eat a meat based source, a healthy body can manufacture the components of Omega 3 if you take in flax oil, or flax seeds or hemp seeds but your body needs to add something to their forms and imperfect forming instead to add something to that form to get the components that you'll need.
