It is important when selecting a pro-biotic to select the human strain of your lactobacillus or you bifidus. It’s also important to be a mindful consumer and a lot of the research that you read will specifically name a certain strain of pro-biotic. Is it really necessarily important that you have that strain? No! We have millions of different strains of lactobacillus that are in our gut, we have millions of strains of bifidus in our gut. So as long as it’s those healthy strains then that’s the important choice to make. Lactobacillus and bifidus in the gut serve the purpose of balancing out other bacteria in the gut. So they help reduce the number of pathological bacteria in the gut as well as help digest the food that’s going through your gut. As well as keep the tissue lining of your gut healthy.
