Chemotherapy Treatment - Dona's Story I had Taxol, Cisplatin, and one was giving IP in a port that I had near my clavicle. One was given in a port down at the base of my ribs, and that was given into my abdomen. They put the chemo directly into your abdomen and let it, as they say, just slosh around, and then it just comes out eventually, takes quite a while. I would swell up when they gave it to me, and they took quite a while for that to go down even after I finished. It never went down completely during the treatment. I was very distended. The treatments were given, I would have one on Tuesday, one on Wednesday, and then the following Tuesday, and then I would be off a week and start that series again. I had a series of six times, and then I was finished. And then other people won't put ports in. They have an IV in their arm. Everyone doesn’t get both kinds. All of them are different. The doctor has to decide which is the best for you.
