In general, during pregnancy it appears that woman’s sexual interest dwindles from the beginning of pregnancy to the end. There are some articles and we did a survey here at ISSWSH during the talk and it seems that many practitioners have observed that women have increased interest in sex in the mid trimester which is from about 12 to 24 or 26 weeks pregnant. But overall, by the end of pregnancy sexual function has really diminished over what it normally is, and postpartum as well, sexual functioning is much diminished and although the majority of couples will get back to normal sexual functioning by about six months postpartum, there still remain a large number of women with sexual function difficulties and that problem is increased in women who are breast feeding.
