Caring For a Dementia Stricken Husband My husband is 23 years older than I am. The typical self-made man, very proud and when he had his first small stroke, it was frightening but then as I've watched him not be able to talk about what he had for breakfast but be able to remember what he did in high school here in Phoenix, you learned to cope. You start at least I did, you want to cover up it’s like having a little child. You don’t want someone else to criticized them. So you make sure you don’t do certain things and you explain to people ahead of time in case he does a mistake. But the main thing is, is that you love them and you give them the alteration they need, the praise they need and the love.
