The prescriptions, also in combination with other pain ingredients, may have acetaminophen. So when people are reaching for that bottle of Tylenol, they may forget—“oh, I already got a prescription medicine with a component with acetaminophen in it”. And what we really want to have people be aware of is not to take more than 4 grams a day of Tylenol. And if you’re getting an ingredient, say, that’s got 500 milligrams in each tablet, then you’re not going to be wanting to take more than 8 tablets a day because there you’re already up to your 4 grams—and preferably spaced out. This is to help protect your liver because your liver is what has to clear the medicine from your body. Please avoid alcohol use with Tylenol. You can help your liver stay healthy if you if you’re using medicines by not taking alcohol with them.
