Pharmacy Taking paroxetine and Ginkgo, this question has come up as one of the side effects of the SSRI drugs is a decrease in sexual function and patients have been looking for remedies for the side effect and often they have asked about Ginkgo biloba in this regard. Taking Ginkgo and paroxetine however may cause additive effects, a condition called serotonin syndrome may result and this is due to excess serotonin release. The symptoms of serotonin syndrome include confusion, fever, hallucinations, nausea vomiting, shaking, sweating and possibly even coma so concurrent use is not recommend unless it’s being monitored by your medical practitioner.
