Can Coffee Sobers You Up Dr. Travis Stork: It’s viewers choice day, so day our prevention magazine Healthier say question is one of the most popular ones, we get ask this quit a bit. King coffee helps sober you up after dinking. People sure do try. Liz Vaccariello: They sure you try, but no, this is completely false. And infact mixing alcohol and caffeine particularly a high amount of both can be very dangerous. And all you have on your hand is a very drunk, very awake person. Dr. Travis Stork: Who thinks, who thinks they’re less drunk than they really are? Liz Vaccariello: That’s right. The only thing that sobers you up is time. Alcohol leaves the body and a rate of 0.015% per hour. So, if you have ten times that, is going to take you 10 hours. Dr. Travis Stork: So you probably better off just drinking fluids like water and some fruits, some vegetables with antioxidants to get you feeling better, just say no to the coffee until you’re sobered up. That’s sound good? Liz Vaccariello: Go back and fort, have a drink, a glass of water. A drink of glass water, slow yourself down. Dr. Travis Stork: Thank you Liz.
