Is it important that a radiologist be specially trained in breast imaging? Yeah, it is really important wherever you are getting your breast imaging done, meaning mammograms, ultrasound examinations, and potentially MRI, that the radiologists there are, in my view, fellowship-trained, or they have had so many years of experience that they are the equivalent to being fellowship-trained. Breast imaging is a legitimate specialty, and it is important for those radiologists to integrate and compare the mammograms with the ultrasound, and if you do need MRI to integrate all that information together to give you the highest quality reading and the highest quality interpretation of your images.
