Suzanne: My name is Suzanne Smith and I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2002. Two weeks later, my children and I was sitting in the doctor’s office and he was telling me that the type of cancer that I had was back against the chest well and that they would have to do a complete mastectomy. And I was just taken the information in and the children were crying, they were upset and I just said well, you know there's no need to be upset, we’re facing facts. And so, June 28th, I had the mastectomy, but before they did the mastectomy they had injected me with dye. And when they did the mastectomy, they took two lymph nodes out. And I had no sign of cancer in the lymph nodes and I didn’t have to have any chemo or any radiation. And I feel great, and I just want people to know that you can go through it, you can survive it and your life can get better as it goes. I think I've cherished things more now than I did but yes, I'm basically a happy person, but not because of it, but I think I take things more seriously and enjoy life, because it is so precious.
