Hi I’m Cynthia Sass, prevention’s grocery guru. When it comes to eating healthy deli meats, one of the most important decisions is what do you put it on? Fortunately, there are a lot of great healthy choices at your supermarket these days. The most important thing is to look for two things. 100% and whole grain on the label. It could be a whole grain pita, it could be a whole grain wrap, it could be whole grain English muffin or even good old fashioned bread. But looking for the words 100% whole grain is important because research wise, whole grains are a linked with a reduced risk of nearly everything you’re trying to prevent, from heart disease to type two diabetes, cancer and high blood pressure so every meal, you should try to include some healthy whole grains. Remember not all carbs are bad. You want to look for whole grain carbs, not no carbs.
