Boost Your Daily Diet With Super Shakes Hi. It’s Dr. John Berardi here with Competitor.com. And today, I’d like to talk about my favorite high performing snack -- the Super Shake. You see, here’s one of the best-kept secrets in the nutureship, are you ready? Not all the meals have to be food meals. In fact, you can even replace one or two meals each day with easy-to-make tasty little drinks I call Super Shakes. Now, I know there are tons of stores and juice bars springing out all over, offering smoothies. However, store bar and juice bar type shakes are usually better than fast food milkshakes. They are typically sweetened heavily with sugar, loaded with protein sources, full of dairy and missing many nutrients found in whole foods. The Super Shake on the other hand is packed with good stuff like high quality protein fiber, good fats, antioxidants and more. In fact, that’s why I devoted an entire section of my nutrition program, the precision nutrition system to the Super Shake. To make a Super Shake, there are six simple steps. Step one, add a liquid to your blender. There are a bunch of different ones you can choose from and some of my favorites are water, iced cool tea, cow’s or goat’s milk, or unsweetened soy, almond, or hemp milk. Step 2, add a fruit. My favorites -- frozen banana’s, frozen berries, dates, or pineapples. Step 3, add a veggie -- dark leafy greens work really well, so does pumpkin, beet, cucumber, and celery. Step 4, add a protein powder -- whey, rice, pea, or hemp will do. Step 5, add a nut or seed -- I like walnuts, flax, chia, cashews or even almonds. Step 6, add a topper-- my favorite toppers -- coconut, coco nibs, pomegranate seeds, and cinnamon. Once you’ve got all of these together in your blender, blend them high for one minute, and there you have it. An excellent template for creating awesome Super Shakes every time. Of course, some ingredients go better together than others. So for more, just check out the precision nutrition system. We go into more detail there. In the meantime, continue to eat well and train hard and I’ll see you next time on Eat & Run.
