Did forceps use during the vaginal delivery of your baby cause bladder incontinence? Forceps add an increased risk of pelvic floor damage. So in the right hands I have been told they can be a very effective tool for guiding a baby that's stuck in the birth canal may be down a couple of centimeters. The problem is Residents receive very little training on how to effectively use forceps. So often times babies are literally pulled out and that creates a lot of damage to the mother. I don't blame them I think they were one of a menu of things that got me to where I was.
