Being Treated for Fibrothecoma by Dr. Magtibay I am Marguerite and I came to see Dr. Magtibay because I’d had some tests that indicate I probably had ovarian cancer, and I came to seem him to find out what to do. And he saw me and was very kind and answered all my questions and took a lot of time with me, and it was the week before Christmas when I saw him but he was willing to do the operation that week, but he told me not to do it then. He suggested I not do it then because I was going to be in the hospital at least five days and I wasn’t going to feel good at all and going home for Christmas with all my family was not going to be a pleasant experience. So he recommended waiting till after Christmas and he came in from a vacation day to do this operation. He didn’t even want to wait one more week. So I came to see Dr. Magtibay here in Phoenix at the Mayo Clinic and he thought that this was serious enough that he would come in from his vacation, the Monday after Christmas, to do the operation. He didn’t want to wait another week and he answered all my questions. He said, “Call my office any time,” which I did. I called his office almost every day asking questions and he answered them within hours and he was just, he put me very much at ease and made me feel like he cared enough. I mean, to come in from his vacation, first of all, it was serious. And second of all, if anybody could save me it was going to be him – that’s the way I felt. I come from Boston. I could have gone back to Mass General, but I felt I had as good healthcare here as I had in Boston, and besides that the weather is nice and I have a lot of friends here but, I just felt that I was completely confident that Dr. Magtibay could do as good a job as anybody could.
