Being Overwhelmed During a Multiple Pregnancy I think it’s obvious that a woman who is faced with the situation of multiples, who particularly wasn’t planning on that, is going to feel overwhelmed at first, even more so than a woman who is just expecting a child, whether it was planned or not. So one of the early things that we try to do, in addition to establishing a specific care management plan for her, is get her involved with the resources that may assist her along this path. That may be something as simple as maybe being put in contact with women who have been in a similar situation, it may be early consultation with the neonatologist, it may be tour of the labor and delivery and neonatal units to see what to expect, and it may be just having her meet on a regular basis with some of her other care providers that extend our ability to individually counsel these patients. So it may be social services, it may be specific support nurses, and there are multiple systems like that available through the Banner system and even beyond to assist in those things.
