Over the years, with the improvement in technique and equipment, the safety of bariatric surgery has tremendously improved. The procedure was performed open just a few years ago and now is performed laparoscopically with minimally invasive technique and because of this reason, the safety is drastically improved, the hospital stay has been drastically reduced, and the patient’s comfort after surgery has been improved.
