Bariatric Surgery Follow-Up to Maintain Weight Loss Follow-up is everything. In fact there have been many, many studies published comparing bands and bypass and sleeves and many other surgeries. And in all of the surgeries, in all of the studies the one thing that came across that people who went back to see their doctor more often in the first year had a much better result five years down the line. We know simply this – if you remain accountable to your doctor, if you go in every month for a few months and then may be three months, six months, twelve months, eighteen months, twenty four months and every year for the rest of your life, you are going to get a better result. Because you will have the tools, you will have the education necessary to look out for things that could defeat the surgery, to look out for side effects and to take advantage of all of the latest, greatest knowledge that we have in the office of how to best use the tool that has been implanted in you. So follow up is key and we know that scientifically as well as anecdotally.
