Hi! My name is Kim Taylor-DiLeva. Welcome to babysignlanguage.com and I wanted to share with you a sign of the day. Your sign of the day is hurt. This is an important sign for you to teach your babies and toddlers because they can't communicate to you through sign language if they are hurt and where they are hurt. So usually instead of just crying, because that's usually their only method of being able to explain to us that they are hurting somewhere is to cry and then parents are always playing the guessing game. What's hurt? Where they hurt? Are they even hurt? Why are they crying? Through sign language we can find out the reason for their crying is because they hurt. This is the two pointers pushing towards each other. Hurts. Babies can tell you that they are hurt and they can also show you where they are hurt. They are hurt in this ear. It could be an ear infection. So it could be that you would bring them to the doctor then because they are signing hurts next to their ear or may be in this ear, or may be if they are having gas and so they can show you by their belly that they are hurt, and they would point this down by their belly. Hurt. Or maybe they fell and bumped their head and so they can point to their head and show you that their head hurts. Hurt is a sign that you use wherever you are hurt. If they bumped their knee, then they sign hurts there. So it's just a matter of you showing them how to use the sign and you can use stuffed animals that you have at home, use the little teddy bear that you have at home and have them fall down, oh, teddy hurt his head, are you okay teddy? And you can give him the band-aid and put it on his head to make him feel better. So practice with the stuffed animals at home with using the sign hurt so that then when they are hurt, they can use the sign hurt with you and they could show you that they are hurt and that's why they are crying and then secondly they can show you where they are hurt, is it in their ear or on their head. So there is a sign of the day. Remember that I have a free video that reveals the number one secret to how you can minimize your baby's crying and tap her tantrum at babysignlanguageonline.com. I hope to see you there and don't forget to sign, hurt. Have a good day!
