Learn about the teething process

Hi everybody! I'm Melanie Raposo and welcome to Mommy's Minute. Teething can be a very long process for your child. It can take your baby up to three years until they have a full set of teeth. Your baby will usually get its first tooth around three months old and the process can be quite painful. Some ways to relieve the pain are gently massaging the gum with your finger, or giving your baby something cold to chew on like a teething ring. After your baby has a full set of teeth, it's important to keep them clean. Generally, wiping them with gauze once daily will do. When your baby is 18 months, you can then introduce a toothbrush. Unless your baby has a lot of sugar in its diet, you won't exactly need toothpaste just yet. And when your baby is three years old, it's time to make that first dentist appointment.
