Available Treatments for Overflow Incontinence Treatments for overflow incontinence include simple things like watch what you drink. Perhaps limiting the amount of fluids you have and also perhaps using timed voiding. For example, I tell my patients to buy a little cheap old Timex watch or Casio watch that beeps every three to four hours so that whenever it beeps, the patient knows to empty her bladder because they are not getting the signals in their brain to empty their bladder. So we provide them the external stimuli such as a ring or a buzz that says, “Okay, it’s been three to four hours, I’d better empty my bladder.” And so those are some of the treatments we use to help with the bladder that doesn’t seem to sense that it needs to go.
